DCA EU NEWS UPDATE

23 JANUARY 2012

The 10th European Development Fund (EDF) Technical Assistance to the Aviation Sector Project commenced on the 7th December 2011.
Senior Experts from NTU (Nordic Transport Development in Danish) Strategic Development and Consulting, the Danish firm that won the tender for this European Union funded project arrived in Zambia on 13th and 14th January 2012, for the inception phase which runs through to 12th February 2012. The experts who arrived on Friday the 13th January 2012 are Ms. Emina Hamzic Kapetanovic, Project Manage and Senior Transport Economist r and Mr. Lars Bentzen, Senior Partner and Senior Transport Specialist. The Project Director Dr. Rodney Baldwin arrived on Saturday 14th January 2012.

History of DCA

 The Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) under the Ministry of Transport, Works, Supply and Communication was first established by Federal Act 10 of 1954 as a Directorate. The Federal Act enabled effect to be given to the International Convention on Civil Aviation and made provision for the control, regulation and orderly development of aviation within the former Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, and later for the Protectorate of Northern Rhodesia and on 1st December 1963 within the Republic of Zambia.
